I’m Lu Mujica, an Assistant Project Manager at Swinerton with a little over a year and two months under my belt.

A Path of Exploration and Dedication

My journey at Swinerton began in the realm of estimation, leveraging my background in pre-construction phases. Over time, I transitioned to the operations side, assuming the role of Assistant Project Manager. Construction has always been a part of my life, with my father’s influence as a Civil Engineer shaping my career path. The allure of building spaces and employing critical thinking to resolve challenges inspired me to pursue a career in this dynamic industry.

Navigating Responsibilities with Precision

In my current role, I collaborate closely with the Special Project teams, donning various hats to ensure project success. From maintaining timelines and budgets to upholding quality standards, my day-to-day involves liaising with the field, managing subcontractors, and overseeing project teams. Effective communication and meticulous checks and balances are paramount to project success. I believe in continuously monitoring project financials and generating accurate cost forecasts to steer projects towards fruition.

Embracing Challenges, Celebrating Accomplishments

One of the significant challenges I’ve encountered is mastering the art of managing diverse teams and trade partners. With each project, many individuals come together, each with unique perspectives and approaches. Overcoming this challenge required fostering open communication channels and embracing collaboration to align diverse viewpoints toward a common goal. I take immense pride in my recent projects—a Tenant Improvement development and an Industrial retrofit venture. Despite their distinct challenges, both projects were executed precisely, prioritizing safety and operational integrity.
