Professional Journey:

My journey at Swinerton began as a Senior Project Manager with a clear goal of breaking the glass ceiling that hindered progress in my previous role. I’m proud that Swinerton supported me in achieving that goal within my first year. My initial inspiration for entering the AEC industry stemmed from a desire to impact the built environment as an architect. However, I found immense inspiration in collaborating with various partners to deliver complex projects over time successfully. Today, leading my teams through challenges toward success is what drives me the most.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Project Executive, I oversee multiple projects and pursuits, focusing primarily on ensuring their health and success. My responsibilities include reviewing costs and schedules to maintain project viability and facilitating the growth of individual team members through mentorship. I contribute to project team success by implementing division-led initiatives and assisting whenever challenges arise.

Challenges and Triumphs:

One of the recurring challenges I face is managing owners’ expectations, but I’m fortunate to have supportive managers who guide me through these challenging situations. A particular triumph I’m proud of is negotiating a contentious time extension change order with an owner, reaching a reasonable compromise that benefited both parties.

Advice for Aspiring Professionals:

To women considering a career in construction, I recommend building a solid support network of professional women from various industries. Balancing the demands of construction work, especially as a mother, can be challenging but rewarding. Having a supportive network to lean on is crucial. Swinerton’s onboarding process was instrumental in helping me build my in-house support network, thanks to supportive managers who introduced me to key individuals.

Personal Touch:

What I enjoy most about working at Swinerton is the collaborative spirit among my peers. We’re a dedicated group committed to advancing Swinerton’s mission, and I feel fortunate to collaborate with such talented colleagues. Outside of work, my hobbies revolve around spending time with my family. Whether assisting with schoolwork, attending soccer tournaments, or enjoying quality time together, I cherish every moment spent with my two kids.
